EVALUATION

my plan.

did i keep to my plan. what was my plan. my original plan was to make an opening stage for a game, in the opening stage i wanted to start in a house in the woods and end in a maze in the desert before going into a temple where the floor would drop. in my final peace i have done this, the level start in a house in the woods the level has a maze and it ends when you fall into a pit in the temple just like in my plan.

in my plan i also wanted to make the game look better the over maze game with more detail. i feel like i have done this by modelling the maze, this makes the maze look better then the flat walls of over games, the game i have made also has better looking models then then the over maze games, this is some thing that i wanted to do from the start because all the game i looked at had low poly models and to make my game better then the over games i wanted to put better models in to game and i have done this by putting brick, tress and grass models in my game.

what went well:

the level of detail in the level is consistent.

you can see the temple from the start of the maze.

the drone and map on the phone.

you can not see the pit at the end.

what did not go well:

the maze walls are too high poly.

the pow poly tress in the back ground cant bee seen.

the model that is used to make a player shadow is not animated.

feed back from overs.

here is a link to the feed back i got from some testers.

i have used some of the feed back to make my game better.

what do i like about my game.

the drone.

the small details around the map.

the ending that needs a key.

the sound effects that i made.

the lighting is not supper dark in the level.

what don't i like about my game.

the sound that i did not go out to get.

the player dose not have a walking animation.

there is no sound for walking.

there are some blocks in the desert area that you can not see.

if i had more time on this project i could:

add more decals to the level.

add a walking sound for when the player moves.

add more things to find in the maze.

add some birds that fly around the level.

work on the lighting more.

i would fix some timing bugs in the cut scenes.

if i was to do this project again.

if i was to do this project again i would keep it mostly the same, the only things i would change would be the temple, i would put more detail into the model. over then that i would not change anything in my game. and the way that i stop the player from getting out of the level area that i wanted the player to be in, in instead of invincible block i could of used some player blocking volumes.

did i plan my timing right for this project?

for this project i feel like i have done it in good time.

using the time table i made, i was able to plan what model would need to be done and when. for some parts i over estimated how long some things would take. i finished some model that a thou would take me a long time to make in a shorter time.

problems.

what problems did i come across when making my game. when making the game i found a problem with the grass that let you see over grass in side the grass model i fixed this by changing the opacity map.

another problem i had was with level loading times, i had a problem with levels not wanting to load leaving the player on a blank screen, this made it look like the game had crashed.
